SCSU President Roy H. Saigo, who announced his plans for retirement Monday, will be looking back on a tenure concerned with social justice, international studies, budget issues and new buildings. Saigo, who has been president since 2000, said he plans to retire June 30, 2007, at the end of his contract.
It's been eight years since P.O.S. made his debut in St. Cloud as a hip hop/punk rock artist, and he has been rhyming ever since. P.O.S. has been in and out of St. Cloud venues over the past eight years. He made a special appearance Sunday night as he performed rhymes from his second album, "Audition.
Ryan Koch, a 2006 graduate of SCSU and a native of Madisson, Wis., was named the male Division II Conference Commissioner's Association Scholar-Athelte of the Year, Wednesday. "It feels like a wrap-up of everything I've worked towards," he said,. "Division II sports is about finding a balance between academics and athletics, and I think I kind of embodied that.
Facebook has just turned from the neighborhood gossip to the country-wide controversy. Recently, the popular social networking Web site, used by many SCSU students, has added a controversial new addition. The feature is called a News Feed. When a user opens the site and logs on to their account, a listing of their "friends" recent activity posts for all to see.
WAITE PARK, Minn. --Stearns County Judge Thomas Knapp gave Mayor Carla Schaefer a verdict of acquittal Wednesday afternoon. Immediately after the judgement, Schaefer jumped up ecstatically and hugged city council member Frank Theisen, then made an immediate exit.
Yesterday, the campus was rudely assaulted by the presence of unwanted ruckus courtesy of the Sugar Daddy's Gentlemen's Club (and we use the former word loosely). Driving through the streets of SCSU during peak lecture hours was a Hummer hauling a large sign advertising the hours of Sugar Daddy's.
This year marks the 15th anniversary for KVSC's "Monday Night Live," where they hold a different, live band, every Monday (from 10-11 p.m.). Throughout the semester, 12 Minnesota bands will perform in the KVSC studio in Stewart Hall and can be heard on 88.
As popular and addicting Facebooking is among so many students, it's not the only computer based interactive activity preoccupying student's valuable time. Fantasy football, another highly popular movement, is responsible for drawing students by the masses.
